SUNON charity donated 500 smoke alarms to group homes to care for the safety of the less fortunate and disadvantaged.

500 smoke alarms donated to the fire station in Qianzhen Dist. The fire crews distribute those alarms to the low and middle income families, improving their living safety.

According to 2021 Fire Statistics by regions from the Taiwanese National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior; residential building fire is ranked a priority, ranked at the top for incidences. Besides, the number of fire casualties are also relatively high when the fires occur between midnight and dawn, as people are not attentive to the fires as they are sleeping. Hence installing smoke alarms at homes is essential for fire safety, to detect an ongoing fire at its early stage.

The charity staff and the fire crews visited the vulnerable social groups’ homes. The crews help to install those alarms.

SUNON charity constantly cares for and supports the less fortunate and disadvantaged groups in many ways, and therefore we took action this time, giving out 500 smoke alarms, in response to the ”Homes with smoke detection installed, safety and security” campaign by the Fire Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government. Those smoke alarms were provided not only to the less fortunate and disadvantaged groups, who consist of the elderly living alone, people with disabilities, and families with low-income, but also to the five-story below apartments and townhouses. SUNON charity commenced distributing these smoke alarms in the area near SUNON headquarters office in Qianzhen Dist., Kaohsiung City first. Here the appropriate groups can apply for the installation of these alarms, so that we can fulfill our mission of caring for these groups and ensuring the living safety for all citizens as well.

The chief the village is grateful to the charity for the donations, helping the groups’ homes safety and also enhancing fire safety in the community residential houses.
